Rhett LaPorte, a senior at Oak Mountain High School, recently won the U.S.A. Track and Field Region 6 young men decathlon and qualified to go to the USATF National meet in Sacremento, Calif.

Rhett’s sister, Maren LaPorte, a fouth grader at Oak Mountain Intermediate School, placed third in the 10-year-old Batam division high jump with a leap of 3 feet, 3 inches.
