Alabaster’s Target store will be looking to give the city’s residents a closer look at many different levels of law enforcement while working to battle crime during the 27th-annual National Night Out on crime.

The store will host the event Aug. 3 from 5-8 p.m. at the Target in the Colonial Promenade shopping center.

The free event will feature demonstrations and information sessions hosted by several local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, as well as free food, drinks, children’s activities and more.

“Target is a national sponsor of the National Night Out every year,” said Target spokeswoman Renee Crook. “This is something we host each year for the community.”

During the event, which will also feature several Alabaster officials, Target and the law enforcement agencies will be distributing free literature, fingerprinting children and working to support local anti-crime programs.

The event is held at thousands of locations across the country each year, and is designed to help neighborhoods unify in an effort to prevent crime throughout the country.
