Oak Mountain counters Hueytown in jamboree

Senior quarterback Trey Page had a hand in two scores as Oak Mountain High School battled to a 21-21 tie with Hueytown in the Eagles’ preseason football jamboree Aug. 19.

Page rushed in for the Eagles’ first touchdown in the game. Page threw a touchdown pass to junior running back Bradley Bostick for Oak Mountain’s second touchdown.

Senior running back Michael Jointer capped the scoring for the Eagles with a rushing touchdown.

Oak Mountain fell behind 14-0 before making a late push to tie the score with the Golden Gophers.

Oak Mountain coach Jeff Harris said he was pleased with the way the Eagles’ performed after falling behind by two touchdowns.

“I’m proud of our guys for battling back,” Harris said. “The old Oak Mountain would have given up. The new Oak Mountain is going to scrap and fight.”

Oak Mountain will open the 2010 season Aug. 27 by hosting Buckhorn.
