Pelham finishes runner-up at Juanita Boddie volleyball tournament

The Pelham High School volleyball team won four matches Aug. 21 on its way to a runner-up finish in the Silver Division of the Juanita Boddie tournament at Hewitt-Trussville High School.

The Panthers fell 23-25, 18-25 to Hoover in the Silver Division championship game.

Porsha Tolbert led Pelham (4-4) with six kills and nine digs. Sydney Days recorded 13 assists.

Days recorded 17 assists to help the Panthers defeat Oak Mountain 26-24, 25-14 in the Silver Division semifinals.

Ashley Kate Kepler led Pelham with eight kills in the win over the Eagles. Tolbert finished with 14 digs.

The Panthers defeated Baker 25-12, 25-17 in the Silver Division quarterfinals.

Dana Allen and Tolbert led Pelham with six kills each. Days and Allen recorded seven digs each.

Days led the Panthers with 12 assists.

Pelham defeated Clay-Chalkville and Austin in pool play to advance to the Silver Division championship bracket.

Allen and Kepler led Pelham with six kills each in a 25-12, 25-10 win over Clay-Chalkville in pool play.

Tolbert recorded six service aces and Days finished with 15 assists.

Elsa Sims and Julie Bui recorded seven digs each.

Tolbert led the Panthers with 10 kills and seven digs in a 25-19, 25-10 win over Austin in pool play.

Days finished with 16 assists and five service aces.
