Television and film actor Kirk Cameron will help the Chelsea community celebrate the coming Christmas season over a bonfire and live Christian music Dec. 5.

The King’s Ranch and Hannah Homes will host Kampfire for the King as a community Christmas event at its Chelsea campus, said Michelle Watkins, marketing and program outreach coordinator.

The event has already developed a star-studded lineup of speakers and entertainers with Cameron as the keynote speaker. Other speakers will include David Nassar, Canton Jones and Matt Pitt. Performers will include Kevin Derryberry and Aaron Keyes.

Cameron will tell his life story from his days on Growing Pains to how he became a believer, Watkins said.

“We called his agent last winter and he said he’d have to run it by Kirk and Kirk would have to pray about it,” Watkins said. “He called back later and said Kirk would love to come.”

Other activities in the day-long event will include a hayride to meet Santa, live nativity and drama, a fishing rodeo for children sponsored by professional bass angler Randy Howell, kids’ inflatables, vendor booths and a firework show.

Immediately following the firework show, a youth rally will take place led by Matt Pitt of The Basement.

James Spann, ABC 33/40 meteorologist, will be the master of ceremonies for the event.

“We just wanted a community event in Chelsea around Christmas-time that would highlight Chelsea and be a family friendly event,” Watkins said.

Tickets for the event are $15 for adults and $10 for children. All proceeds will go to help abused and neglected women and children in programs at The King’s Ranch and Hannah Homes.

A few vendor and sponsorship spots for the event are still available, Watkins said.
