More than 3,400 of Shelby County’s unwanted dogs are now in loving homes in New England, thanks to the Shelby Humane Society and its Shelter Partners program.

Shelby Humane Society and its friends will celebrate on Friday, Aug. 27, with More Tales from the Trips, a casual fundraising dinner, which will highlight the miles and milestones of the program.

The dinner, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the YMCA Hargis Retreat in Chelsea, will feature a comfort-food dinner and stories from drivers and supporters of Shelter Partners.

Laura Lanza, ASPCA community initiatives director, will speak on the shelter’s partnership with the ASPCA.

Cost is $15 per person for those making reservations by Aug. 25. Cost is $20 at the door.

All proceeds will benefit the Shelter Partners program, which transports dogs from overpopulated Shelby County to new homes in New England.

Reservations can be made by calling 669-3916 or by visiting Shelbyhumane.org.
