High school volleyball roundup: Oak Mountain tops Briarwood

The Oak Mountain High School volleyball team defeated Briarwood Christian in high school volleyball action Aug. 24.

Samantha Skinner led the Eagles with 19 kills in a 25-18, 25-22, 31-29 win over the Lions. Skinner also finished with six digs.

Sarah Goodwin added seven kills and a team-leading 16 digs. Chelsea Payne recorded 27 assists and six digs.

Logan Nasworthy and Sara Kate Bracewell led the Lions with eight kills each. Bracewell also had a team-high 18 digs.

Katie Briley finished with five kills and three blocks. Mallory Whitaker added 10 digs.

Claire Carter recorded 21 assists.

Chelsea sweeps Shelby County, Bibb County

Samantha Colyer led the Hornets with seven kills in a 25-14, 25-15, 25-11 sweep of Shelby County.

Sarah Simpson led Chelsea with eight digs.

Emily Handley finished with five service aces and Jesse Vohler recorded a team-high 11 assists.

Vohler led Chelsea with three kills and four assists in a 25-7, 25-14 sweep of Bibb County.

Handley finished with seven service aces.

Thompson defeats Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa

Hailey Schatz led the Warriors (2-5) with 19 kills in a 17-25, 27-25, 25-18, 25-21 win over Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa.

Haley Davenport added seven kills.

Sonia Acosta led Thompson with a team-high 30 assists.

Pelham sweeps Donoho, Parkway Christian

Sydney Days and Dana Allen led the Panthers (6-4) with seven kills each in a 25-16, 19-25, 15-12 win over Donoho at Parkway Christian School.

Days added 14 digs and 15 assists. Allen added three service aces.

Porsha Tolbert led Pelham with 10 kills in a 25-19, 25-17 sweep of host Parkway Christian.

Julie Bui led the Panthers with 14 digs. Days recorded 13 assists.

Spain Park defeats Mountain Brook

Katie Best led the Jaguars (3-3) with 15 kills in a 23-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-14, 15-9 win over the Spartans.

Best also finished with a team-high 17 digs and added three blocks in the Spain Park victory.

Kendall Carlis added 13 kills and six blocks. Sydney Fritz added 16 digs.

Mary Grace Drum finished with five blocks and three service aces. McKenna McLain recorded a team-leading 31 assists and recorded three aces.

Calera tops Jemison

A’Kia Harris led the Eagles with 13 kills in a 22-25, 25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 15-13 win over Jemison.

La’Jacqueline Morgan led Calera with four service aces.

Kellie Rasmussen finished with 23 assists.

Hope Christian sweeps New Life

Hannah Lane led the Eagles (1-0) with seven kills in a 25-19, 26-24, 25-23 sweep of New Life Christian.

Kelsey Thompson added five kills. Lane finished with four service aces.

Aubrey Best led Hope Christian with five assists.

Montevallo falls at Isabella

The Bulldogs fell 19-25, 7-25, 6-25 on the road at Isabella.
