University of Montevallo head baseball coach Chandler Rose announced the signing of fourteen recruits for the 2011 season Aug. 30, including former Oak Mountain High School standout Blaine Rosenberg.

Rosenberg, a catcher, will join the Falcons as a junior after spending the past two seasons at Division I Furman. Rosenberg batted .196 in limited action in his sophomore season at Furman.

Rosenberg was an Alabama Lions Sight Conservation East-West Baseball Classic selection following his senior season at Oak Mountain. Rosenberg batted .325 with two home runs and 26 RBIs his senior year with the Eagles.

“Blaine brings us two years of experience and I also look for him to bring a lot of leadership,” said Rose. “He will add a left handed power bat to the line-up to go along with a hard-nosed mentality behind the plate. I look for Blaine to compete for the starting catching position.”

Montevallo also signed transfers in outfielder Kirk Waligora of Lambuth University, left-handed pitcher Devon Davis of Indiana Tech University, infielder Jeremy Boyte of Gulf Coast Community College, right-handed pitcher Will Dismukes of Enterprise State Community College, first baseman Heath Paterson of Chattahoochee Valley Community College and right-handed pitcher Michael Shreves of Manatee Community College.

High school signees include right-handed pitcher Edward Brandsema of Cypress Creek High School near Orlando, Fla., right-handed pitcher Justin Burgess of First Academy in Tampa, Fla., infielder Will Fulmer of East Lake High School near Orlando, Fla., infielder Pablo Martell of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Hollywood, Fla., catcher Alec Stiver of Venice High School in Englewood, Fla., left-handed pitcher Alex Guilford of Alabama Christian Academy and utility player Vincent Rodriguez of Shades Valley High School.

The 2011 class marks the first for Rose as the head of the Montevallo baseball program.
