Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union, which operates a branch in Chelsea, has completed a merger of Jefferson Community Development Federal Credit Union of Birmingham.

The merger was effective May 31 and the conversion of accounts was completed on July 31.

Jefferson Community Development FCU had assets of $1.6 million and one location in Roebuck. Coosa Pines FCU ended July 2010 with total assets of more than $185 million and more than 20,000 members.

Coosa Pines FCU is celebrating its Diamond Anniversary and sixty years of service to members in 2010, and now has five branches in Central Alabama: Chelsea, Childersburg, Pell City, Roebuck, and Sylacauga.
