Calera drops road game against Beauregard

The Calera High School football team fell 52-20 on the road at Beauregard in a Class 4A region matchup Sept. 3.

Senior quarterback Brandon Wells threw a touchdown pass and scored a rushing touchdown in the loss.

Wells’ 3-yard run with 1:17 remaining in the first quarter cut the Beauregard lead to 13-8.

Wells threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Ronnie Clark with 10:22 remaining in the first half to cut the lead to 19-14.

Eugene Rodgers scored the final touchdown for the Eagles with his 84-yard kickoff return for a score with 3:59 left in the third quarter.

Wells completed 12-of-23 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions.

Jeremy Hyde led Calera with four receptions for 44 yards. A.J. Nixon led the Eagles with 12 tackles.

Calera plays host to Dadeville in another Class 4A region game Sept. 10.
