Montevallo falls on the road at Greensboro

The Montevallo High School football team dropped its second game in a row to start the 2010 season following a 46-21 loss Sept. 3 on the road at Greensboro.

Senior R.J. Scaife accounted for all three of the Bulldogs’ touchdowns in the loss.

Scaife scored his first touchdown on a 21-yard run with 8:18 left in the first quarter. Scaife added his second score in the game on a 32-yard run with 4:25 remaining in the first half.

Scaife capped the scoring for Montevallo with his 88-yard kick return for a touchdown with 5:32 left in the third quarter.

Kicker Brett Gray converted all three extra-point attempts.

Scaife led the Bulldogs with 102 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Scaife finished with 114 kick return yards.

Garrius Chappell rushed for 40 yards on 11 carries and caught two passes for 25 yards. Korey Cunningham caught three passes for 25 yards.

Taylor Burr completed 7-of-17 passes for 53 yards with two interceptions.

Montevallo finished with 193 yards in total offense, including 140 rushing yards. The Bulldogs racked up 200 return yards.

The Bulldogs (0-2) travel to Aliceville for another region matchup Sept. 10.
