Three former high school football standouts in Shelby County earned spots on National Football League rosters for the 2010 season.

Former Briarwood Christian School star Tim Castille is set to begin his fourth season in the NFL and his second season with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The University of Alabama graduate signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals out of college in 2007. After spending his first season on the Cardinals’ practice squad, the fullback played one season with Arizona before joining Kansas City.

Castille rushed for 55 yards on 14 carries and caught four passes for 37 yards and a touchdown in seven games with the Chiefs last season.

Former Spain Park High School standout Tyler Grisham is set to begin his second season with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a member of the team’s practice squad.

Grisham, who graduated from Clemson University, spent most of the 2009 season on the Steelers’ practice squad before joining the team’s 53-man active roster in December.

Grisham, a wide receiver, played in four games and caught one pass for a 14-yard gain last season.

Former Pelham High School star Montez Billings earned a spot on the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad as a wide receiver in his first professional season.

Billings, who graduated from Auburn University, began his senior season with the Tigers in 2009 with a four-game suspension by the National Collegiate Athletic Association for academic reasons and decided to forego his final season of eligibility.
