Spain Park runner finishes second at Chickasaw Trails meet

Spain Park High School senior Brandon Hazouri finished second overall in the Chickasaw Trails’ Class 5A-6A boys’ meet Sept. 11 at Indian Mounds Park in Oakville.

Hazouri completed the 5K race with a time of 16:45.37 to lead the Jaguars.

Steven Crain of Spain Park finished 24th overall with a time of 17:56.30, which helped the Jaguars claim seventh-place in the team standings.

Briarwood Christian School freshman Ramsey Ritchie finished 12th overall with a time of 17:31.79. The Lions finished 11th in the boys’ team standings.

Oak Mountain freshman Caleb Mintz completed the race in 18:27.07, which placed him 43rd overall in individual standings. The Eagles came in eighth in the team standings.

Matt Hobbs of Chelsea finished 108th overall and the Hornets came in 23rd in the team standings.

Kyle Cofer of Shelby County finished 344th overall and the Wildcats came in 29th in the team standings.

Spain Park freshman Madeline Held was the top finisher from Shelby County in the Class 5A-6A girls’ meet.

Held came in sixth overall in the individual standings with her time of 20:45.24. The Jaguars finished 10th overall in the team standings.

Shelby County sophomore Jackie Head finished ninth in the girls’ individual standings with her time of 21:01.41.

Mary Catherine Ellard of Briarwood finished 13th overall with a time of 21:12.65. The Lions finished eighth in the team standings.

Oak Mountain junior Christina Tam finished 37th overall with her time of 22:56.95. The Eagles came in sixth in the team standings.

Alli Cochran of Chelsea finished 91st overall in the girls’ individual standings. The Hornets came in 20th in the team standings.
