High school volleyball roundup: Indian Springs sweeps Tarrant

The Indian Springs School volleyball team swept Tarrant in high school volleyball action Sept. 14.

Andrea Mayo led Indian Springs with 10 kills in a 25-5, 25-15, 25-15 win over Tarrant.

Mayo added three service aces. Lauren Plouff recorded a team-high 15 assists.

Thompson defeats Chelsea

Hailey Schatz led the Warriors with 14 kills in a 25-22, 20-25, 25-20, 25-19 win over Chelsea.

Haley Davenport led Thompson with seven blocks. Kasie Holcomb recorded a team-high 16 digs.

Sonia Acosta finished with 37 assists in the match. Rachel McMullen finished with four service aces.

Emily Handley led Chelsea with 10 kills and three service aces.

Briarwood wins two matches

The Briarwood Christian School volleyball team picked up two Class 5A, Area 7 wins with victories over Shelby County and Talladega.

Katie Briley led the Lions (8-6, 3-0 in Class 5A, Area 7) with 15 kills in a 27-25, 25-9, 25-15 win over Shelby County.

Briley added seven service aces. Adeline Reiser recorded a team-high 28 assists.

Lizzie Baumbach finished with four service aces.

Carly Cline led Briarwood with 14 kills in a 25-15, 25-10, 25-8 win over Talladega.

Logan Nasworthy added 13 kills and five service aces. Briley recorded 12 kills.

Reiser finished with a team-high 12 assists. Claire Carter added 11 assists.

Vincent edges Cleveland

Jessica Posey led the Yellow Jackets with nine kills in a 26-24, 21-25, 25-16, 14-25, 15-12 win over Cleveland.

Posey added 16 digs. Michele Brasher and Randee Isbell added five kills each for Vincent, which improved to 4-7 overall.

Amber Shaw led Vincent with 23 digs and 11 service aces. Courtney Holston added eight service aces.

Rachel Johnson posted a team-high 21 assists.

Evangel sweeps Evangel Family

Rainey Ketcham led the Lightning with eight kills in a 25-18, 25-22, 25-8 sweep of Evangel Family Christian Academy.

Elizabeth Ragland added seven kills and Erica Williams finished with four kills.

Ragland added six service aces and two blocks.

Kate Foster recorded a team-high eight assists for Evangel, which improved to 9-0 overall.

Spain Park drops match against Vestavia Hills

Katie Best led the Jaguars with four kills, eight digs and two blocks in a 11-25, 15-25, 16-25 loss to Vestavia Hills.

Kendall Carlis added three kills and a team-high nine digs.

McKenna McLain finished with 11 assists. Sydney Fritz added two blocks and Kylie Beaubien recorded two service aces.
