Vincent remains undefeated with region win over R.C. Hatch

The Vincent High School football team remained undefeated in region play with a 48-0 shutout win Sept. 17 over R.C. Hatch.

Demonte Johnson led the Yellow Jackets (3-1 overall, 3-0 in Class 2A, Region 4) with three rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown in the victory.

Johnson put Vincent on the scoreboard with his 10-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Johnson added his second touchdown with a 12-yard scoring run in the second quarter. Johnson also threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Shacorry Lilly in the second quarter to give the Yellow Jackets an 18-0 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.

Ben McKinney scored on a 34-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Johnson scored his final touchdown on a 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Chris Brown added a 1-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter and Rodney Groce capped the scoring for Vincent with a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.

McKinney led Vincent with 118 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Johnson, who also had an interception and recovered two fumbles, rushed for 67 yards on 11 carries and completed 4-of-14 passes for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Lilly rushed for 56 yards on six carries. Brown led Vincent with eight tackles. Groce recorded seven tackles.

Vincent plays host to Montevallo in a non-region game Sept. 24.
