Montevallo falls in semifinals of Jemison Invitational

The Montevallo High School volleyball team picked up three wins in pool play before falling in the semifinals of the Jemison Invitational tournament Sept. 18.

The Bulldogs defeated Central-Tuscaloosa, Thorsby and Calera before dropping their semifinal match with host Jemison.

Amber Cardwell led Montevallo with 15 kills in the Bulldogs’ 22-25, 23-25 loss to Jemison in the semifinals.

Mallory Anderson recorded five kills and a team-high 15 digs. Cardwell added 11 digs and Mary Ann Lee finished with 10 digs.

Kathryn Ray recorded eight assists.

Cardwell finished with 10 kills and 22 digs in a 25-18, 11-25, 15-11 win over Central-Tuscaloosa.

Mallory Anderson added eight kills and 15 digs. McKenna Anderson registered 11 digs and a team-high eight assists.

Mallory Anderson led Montevallo with six kills in a 25-21, 25-13 win over Thorsby.

Cardwell led the Bulldogs with seven kills in a 25-14, 25-20 win over Calera.
