The Cahaba Valley Elks recently made a special trip to Helena Intermediate as part of The Dictionary Project. The program is intended to provide a dictionary for every third-grade student in Shelby County area schools to help third grade teachers make their students better writers, active readers and creative thinkers. The Cahaba Valley Elks Lodge became involved in The Dictionary Project in 2004-2005. The sole mission of this non-profit organization is to distribute dictionaries to as many third graders as possible in the 50 United States and outlying territories. Currently, more than 7 million children have received dictionaries through The Dictionary Project.
