Spain Park runner wins race at Jesse Owens Classic

Spain Park High School junior Brandon Hazouri captured the boys’ 5K Silver Division title Oct. 2 at the Jesse Owens Classic at Indian Mounds Park in Oakville.

Hazouri posted a time of 16:06.05 to lead the Silver Division field of 315 runners. Hazouri helped the Jaguars finish eighth in the Silver Division boys’ team standings at the meet.

Steven Crain of Spain Park finished 18th overall in Silver Division individual standings with his time of 16:58.21.

Mason Webber of Pelham came in 58th overall in the Silver Division invdividual standings with his time of 17:48.56. The Panthers finished 33rd in team standings.

Trey Long of Briarwood Christian finished 74th overall in the Silver Division individual standings with his time of 17:59.01. The Lions came in 31st in team standings.

Spain Park freshman Madeline Held finished second overall in the girls’ 5K Silver Division race with her time of 19:21.92. Held helped Spain Park finish sixth in Silver Division team standings.

Senior Kristen Spence came in eighth overall in Silver Division individual standings with her time of 20:01.95.

Pelham junior Brianna Gunn finished 23rd overall in Silver Division individual standings with her time of 20:34.78. Erin Landa of Pelham finished 28th overall with her time of 20:47.75.

The Oak Mountain boys’ team finished 24th in the Gold Division team standings. Will Hamaker led the Eagles with his time of 17:16.09, which placed him 75th overall in individual standings.

The Thompson boys’ team came in 34th in the Gold Division team standings. Michael Johnson finished 177th overall in individual standings with his time of 18:26.19.

The Briarwood Christian girls’ team finished 21st in the Gold Division team standings. Mary Catherine Ellard led the Lions with her time of 20:12.76, which placed her 52nd overall in individual standings.

The Oak Mountain girls’ team came in one spot behind Briarwood Christian at 22nd in the Gold Division team standings. Elly Gay led the Eagles as she finished 116th overall in individual standings with her time of 21:12.05.

The Thompson girls’ team finished 26th in the Gold Division team standings. Sianna Nelson led the Warriors with her time of 20:50.09, which placed her 90th overall in individual standings.

The Westminster School at Oak Mountain boys’ team came in 28th in the Bronze Division team standings. Adam Dunkerley led the Knights as he finished 18th overall in individual standings with his time of 17:32.79.

The Indian Springs boys’ team finished 43rd in the Bronze Division team standings. Joseph Fisher led Indian Springs with his time of 21:21.61, which placed him 263rd in individual standings.

Morgan Reynolds of Westminster finished 10th overall in the Bronze Division individual standings with her time of 20:54.15. Erin McMinn of Indian Springs came in 37th overall in the Bronze Division individual standings with her time of 22:09.95.
