Excer Rae Starkey, age 80, a resident of Calera, passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2010 at a local hospital. Funeral service was at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 4, at Bolton Funeral Home. Burial followed at Pinelawn Gardens. Rev. Mike Shaw officiated. Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 3, from 6-8 p.m. at Bolton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Starkey was a member of First Baptist Church of Pelham. She is preceded in death by her husband, James L. Starkey and daughter, Patricia Brasher. Mrs. Starkey is survived by her daughters, Linda (Larry) Savage and Dinah (Wendell) Scott; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Shaw and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
