Cornerstone rolls to win over Meadowview Christian

Cornerstone Christian School picked up a 27-14 win on the road at Meadowview Christian in an AISA Class 1A, Region 2 contest Oct. 8.

Three different players scored rushing touchdowns as the Chargers ran their record to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in region play.

Josh Anderson scored the first touchdown in the game on a 42-yard scoring run in the first quarter. Clayton Halbert added a 7-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Dylan Rogers added a 14-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Halbert capped the scoring for Cornerstone with his 5-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Anderson rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown on seven carries before leaving the game with an injury in the opening quarter.

Halbert led the Chargers with 153 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. Rogers added 94 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries.

Chase Crumpton racked up 48 rushing yards on 14 carries. Sterling Riether completed 3-of-5 passes for 64 yards.

Halbert led the defensive effort with 10 tackles. Tucker Youngblood added eight tackles and Crumpton recorded seven tackles.

Cornerstone hosts Sparta Academy in an AISA Class 1A, Region 2 game Oct. 15.
