Betty Sue Mullis Cook, of Alabaster, entered into eternal rest and reward on Oct. 11, 2010. Ms. Cook passed from this life into the next after spending the last two months with her family in Huntsville fighting a brief illness. Born and raised in Dublin, Ga. in 1933, she graduated high school in Fernandina Beach, Fla. in 1951. She married her lifelong love in 1953, and served her family as a homemaker and community as a volunteer while living in north Florida, south Georgia and Alabama. For the last 32 years, she was an active member of Kingwood Church and is remembered as a dedicated wife, loving mother and proud grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening and was blessed with humor and hospitality.

Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Bertie Mullis; her brothers, Wendell and J.W. Mullis; and her faithful husband of 57 years, James Lowell Cook Sr. She is survived by her only son, James Lowell Cook Jr; her beloved daughter-in-law, Leah Beth Elias Cook; and her three grandchildren, Jacob Lowell Cook, Joshua Elias Cook and Anna Bethany Cook.

Visitation will be held at Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo on Oct. 14 from 6-8 p.m. A service to celebrate her life and homecoming will be held on Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. at Kingwood Church in Alabaster followed by an interment ceremony at the Alabama National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.  Rockco Funeral Home, Montevallo directing, Rockcofuneralhomes.com.
