Six high school volleyball teams from Shelby County advanced to the next round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association playoffs and will participate in region tournaments Saturday, Oct. 16.

Oak Mountain High School won the Class 6A, Area 10 tournament and will host a Class 6A region tournament. The Eagles (50-18) will face Mountain Brook in the quarterfinals at 10 a.m.

Briarwood Christian won the Class 5A, Area 7 tournament and will travel to Central High School in Tuscaloosa for a Class 5A region tournament. The Lions (16-17) will face Selma in the quarterfinals at 11:15 a.m.

Chelsea, which finished runner-up in the Class 5A, Area 7 tournament, will join the Lions at the Class 5A region tournament in Tuscaloosa. The Hornets (15-24) will face Greenville in the quarterfinals at 10 a.m.

Calera finished runner-up in the Class 4A, Area 6 tournament at Jemison High School. The Eagles (13-13) will head back to Jemison for a Class 4A region tournament, where they will meet Oak Grove in the quarterfinals at 11:15 a.m.

Montevallo claimed the Class 3A, Area 7 title and will participate in a Class 3A region tournament at Marbury High School. The Bulldogs (19-6) will take on Central-Coosa in the quarterfinals at 11:15 a.m.

Indian Springs (14-10) will join the Bulldogs at the Class 3A region tournament at Marbury High School. Indian Springs, which won the Class 3A, Area 8 tournament, will face Sipsey Valley in the quarterfinals at 11:15 a.m.

The top four teams at region tournaments advance to the sub-state round of the AHSAA playoffs. The sub-state round matches are set for Thursday, Oct. 21.
