An Alabaster company will be awash in a sea of pink Oct. 22, as co-workers and company managers band together to support a pair of their colleagues.

Sealing Equipment Products Company on Airpark Industrial Road in Alabaster will celebrate its companywide Pink Day to show support for employees Arnita King and Carolyn Harris, both of whom are breast cancer survivors.

This year will mark the fourth straight year for the event, during which SEPCO employees will don their pink attire for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation.

The event will come about two weeks after the company fielded a team during the Race for the Cure event in downtown Birmingham.

“We are all a family here, and we all support each other,” said King. “The owner of SEPCO, Chris Wilder, is really our biggest supporter.”

This year, the company raised and donated $1,027 to the Susan G. Komen foundation, marking the fourth year the company has donated more than $1,000 to the cause.

King said the constant show of support by her co-workers is inspirational and moving.

“It’s wonderful, it really is,” King said. “We look forward to this event every year. Our company has been so amazing in supporting this.

“Every year we do a survivors’ walk during the Race for the Cure,” she added. “If you’ve never been there, it’s really an emotional experience. The support we get from our co-workers is amazing.”
