High school cross country roundup: Panthers finish third at Husky Challenge

The Pelham High School girls’ cross country team finished third in team standings at the 19th annual St. Vincent’s Husky Challenge in Trussville.

The Panthers competed on the 5K course Oct. 23 at Hewitt-Trussville Middle School.

Mary Grace Stozier led Pelham as she finished sixth overall in individual standings with her time of 19:23.11.

Teammate Erin Landa came in 23rd overall in individual standings with her time of 20:37.64.

The Spain Park girls finished fifth in team standings. Madeline Held led the Jaguars as she finished 13th overall in individual standings with her time of 19:52.84.

The Oak Mountain girls came in sixth in team standings. Haley Davidson led the Eagles as she finished seventh overall in individual standings with her time of 19:27.59.

Chelsea finished 14th in team standings. Cheyenne Thompson led the Hornets as she came in 25th overall with her time of 20:41.12.

Indian Springs came in 15th in team standings. Erin McMinn finished 53rd overall with her time of 22:09.61.

Running as an individual, Brookelynn Smith of Shelby County came in 82nd overall with her time of 23:48.40.

Brandon Hazouri of Spain Park won the boys’ 5K race with his time of 16:03.64.

The Jaguars finished third in the boys’ team standings. Steven Crain of Spain Park came in fifth overall in individual standings with his time of 16:39.80.

Oak Mountain finished fifth in the team standings. Will Hamaker led the Eagles as he finished 15th overall with his time of 17:09.19.

Pelham came in 12th in the team standings. Mason Webber led the Panthers as he finished 51st overall with his time of 18:03.22.

Chelsea finished 15th in team standings. Austin Grace led the Hornets with his time of 18:00.52, which placed him 48th overall in individual standings.

Shelby County finished 20th in team standings. Wally Morris led the Wildcats as he came in 126th overall with his time of 21:10.28.

Indian Springs finished 21st in team standings. Joseph Fisher led Indian Springs as he came in 134th overall with his time of 21:29.07.

Westminster runner claims third place at ACA Invitational

Westminster School at Oak Mountain runner Morgan Reynolds finished third overall in the American Christian Academy Invitational 5K girls race Oct. 23 at Sokol Park in Tuscaloosa.

Reynolds completed the 5K race in 22:02.70, which put her just more than three minutes behind the race winner.

Teammate Sarah Linder came in 19th overall in the girls’ individual standings with her time of 25:27.80.

Noah Thompson led the Westminster boys with his 12th place finish in the 5K boys’ individual standings. Thompson completed the 5K race in 19:17.30.
