Betty Payne Carden, 82, of Calera, passed away Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lloyd Carden; parents Samuel and Troy Payne; siblings, George Payne, Earl Payne, James Payne, Clifford Payne, Bernice P. Walton, Marie P. Guy and Bertha P. Vernon. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Carden (Bobby) Blankenship; son, Michael Kerry (Kathryn) Carden; grandchildren, Kerry (Leslie) Blankenship, Lucas (Jennifer) Blankenship, Ken (Lisa) Carden, Michelle Baird, Aaron Baird; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Mason, and Graham Blankenship, Gavin Blankenship, Samantha Smith, Sidney Laird, Skyler Laird; sister, Ruby Payne McCain, Hatley Health Care; brother, Rudolph Payne of Tennessee. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and the Historical Society.

Funeral services are at Northside Baptist Church in Calera Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Bro. Joe Sizemore officiating. Visitation is 30 minutes prior to the service.
