Falcons ranked in preseason NABC Division II poll

The University of Montevallo men’s basketball team is ranked No. 24 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II preseason poll, which was released Nov. 3.

The Falcons are coming off a season in which they advanced to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen for the fifth time in the past seven seasons under head coach Danny Young. Montevallo finished the 2009-10 season with a 25-8 record following an impressive 12-0 start.

Montevallo returns one starter in senior forward Cecil Coleman, who was recently named to the Peach Belt Conference preseason All-Conference team.

The Falcons are one of just two Peach Belt teams ranked in the top 25. USC-Aiken is ranked No. 14.

Montevallo opens the season with an exhibition game at Division I Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 7:05 p.m. The first regular season contest will be at home against Carver Bible College on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
