Helen B. Hare, on the morning of Nov. 2, 2010, went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband of 67 years, D.A. Hare Sr.

She was able to go in her sleep at her home thanks to the efforts of Family Comfort Hospice.

She is survived by her son, D.A. “Sonny” Hare Jr. of Montevallo; daughter, Geraldine H. Connor (Wayne) of Lilburn, Ga.; and granddaughter, Kelly Connor of Smyrna, Ga. Mrs. Hare was retired from Carraway Methodist Hospital, where she served as the Director of Medical Records. In her retirement she enjoyed living on her Shelby County property and traveling with her husband on his business trips.

In loving memory the family ask that in lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to The Shelby County Humane Society, The Methodist Children’s Home in Selma or Family Comfort Hospice. Graveside services will be held Friday, Nov. 5 at Elmwood Cemetery at 1 p.m., where visitation will be one hour prior at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel.
