High school basketball roundup: Shelby County wins Tip-Off Tournament

GIRLS

The Shelby County High School girls’ basketball team jumped out to an early lead for the second night in a row in a 58-34 win over host Indian Springs in the Tip-Off Tournament championship game.

Aulicia Nunn led the Wildcats (2-0) with 14 points. Nunn, who was named the tournament’s most valuable player, dished out six assists.

Hallie Brown added 11 points. Alexis Lewis scored 10 points and Ashley Mizzell chipped in nine points.

Jenny Morris led Shelby County with six rebounds.

Andrea Mayo led Indian Springs (2-1) with 15 points.

BOYS

Westminster falls in Tip-Off Tournament final

The Westminster School at Oak Mountain boys’ basketball team fell to Oak Grove, 75-59, in the Tip-Off Tournament championship game Nov. 12 at Indian Springs School.

Jeffrey Stanford led Westminster (2-1) with 22 points in the loss.

Jake Doggett added 17 points for the Knights.

Indian Springs wins consolation game

The Indian Springs School boys’ basketball team rallied from a fourth-quarter deficit to pick up a 57-54 win over Shades Mountain Christian in its Tip-Off Tournament consolation game Nov. 12.

Hart Wilson and Charlie Simpson led Indian Springs (2-1) with 20 points each.

Stephen Himic and Joseph Simonetti chipped in six points each. Wilson and Himic grabbed five rebounds each.

Simpson led the team with six assists.
