High school basketball roundup: Indian Springs tops Westminster

BOYS

The Indian Springs School boys’ basketball team outscored visiting Westminster School at Oak Mountain in each quarter Nov. 18 in a 46-28 win over the Knights.

Hart Wilson led Indian Springs (4-1) with 13 points. Wilson also grabbed seven rebounds.

Charlie Simpson added 10 points, six rebounds and three assists in the victory.

Jake Doggett led Westminster (3-2) with 14 points.

Shelby County wins season opener

The Shelby County High School boys’ basketball team opened its season Nov. 18 with a 63-62 win on the road at Tarrant.

Tyler Madison scored the game winner with less than two seconds remaining to lift the Wildcats (1-0) to victory.

Madison led Shelby County with 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Tre Cohill added 14 points and eight boards. Ty Lollar contributed 12 points.

Briarwood picks up win over McAdory

Briarwood Christian School escaped with a 63-62 win on the road at McAdory following a last-second shot in boys’ basketball action Nov. 18.

Josh Laatsch, who finished with 10 points, hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Lions (2-0) to victory.

Luke Collins led Briarwood with 16 points. Jason Laatsch and Raymond Woods added 12 points each.

Spain Park falls to Hoover

The Spain Park High School boys’ basketball team fell 62-51 on the road at Hoover a rivalry game Nov. 18.

Mitchell Holt led the Jaguars (1-1) with 12 points.

Rembert Martin added 11 points.

Cornerstone falls in season opener

The Cornerstone Christian School boys’ basketball team fell to host Prattville Christian Academy 79-58 in its Tip-Off Tournament in the Chargers’ season opener Nov. 18.

Clayton Halbert led Cornerstone (0-1) with 15 points.

Kendall Moore and Hagan Joiner added 14 points each.

The Chargers will face Hooper Academy in their final Tip-Off Tournament game Nov. 20.

GIRLS

Briarwood defeats Hewitt-Trussville

The Briarwood Christian School girls’ basketball team picked up a 40-33 win over Hewitt-Trussville on the road Nov. 18.

Anna Handlin led the Lions (3-2) with 14 points. Handlin also grabbed 11 rebounds.

Shelby County defeats Tarrant

The Shelby County High School girls’ basketball team defeated Tarrant 39-23 on the road Nov. 18.

The Wildcats improved to 3-0 with the victory.

Alexis Lewis led Shelby County with 13 points.

Aulicia Nunn added 12 points. Alysia Perkins contributed nine points.

Spain Park falls to Hoover

The Spain Park High School girls’ basketball team fell to rival Hoover 71-36 on the road Nov. 18.

Colby Ryan led the Jaguars (2-1) with 11 points in the loss.

Ashley Gaston added nine points.
