Spirit of season at Cahaba Church

Cahaba Valley Church invites everyone to connect with the true spirit of the season at one of the following Advent events: Advent Sundays at Cahaba Valley Church Special Sunday School series, led by Pastor George Hollis, at 9:30 a.m., and special preaching, singing and worship, at 10:45 a.m., focused around the themes of each Sunday in the Christmas season.

-Nov. 28, HOPE: When Jesus comes again, all will be made right.

-Dec. 5, PEACE: The first coming of Christ unites us with God and other people.

-Dec. 12, JOY: Jesus Christ brings his joy to those who are faithful to the end.

-Dec. 19, LOVE: The birth we celebrate is linked to Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.

Also, a toy drive for Greater Birmingham Ministries now through Dec. 12 at Cahaba Valley Church.

Drop off your unwrapped toy or clothing item for a child and the church will deliver them to GBM to brighten the season for an inner-city boy or girl.

The Family Court Christmas Party, Dec. 17, 6-7 p.m., will be at the downtown Birmingham location, Car pool from Cahaba Valley Church at 5:30 p.m.

Lift holiday spirits by singing carols and providing a holiday party for youths held in Jefferson County Juvenile Detention Facility. Pre-registration required.

The church will celebrate with a Lessons and Carols Service, Dec. 24, 6 p.m. at Cahaba Valley Church.

Special readings and songs recall the familiar words of the Christmas story, ending with the lighting of candles and the singing of “Silent Night.”
