Former Pelham High School volleyball standout Ally Slaughter was recently named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team following her first season at UAB.

Slaughter, an outside hitter, is averaging 2.18 kills per set in her rookie campaign.

Slaughter has recorded seven double-figure kill performances, all in the past 12 matches, and is averaging 2.69 kills per frame over that stretch. Her increase in productivity has coincided with improved team play for UAB, which is 7-5 in its past 12 contests. Slaughter also averages 1.38 digs per set.

Slaughter’s selection marks the second straight year the Blazers have placed someone on the All-Freshman team.
