Robert Earl Ellison, age 81, of Alabaster, passed away Nov. 28, 2010. Known as Bob to many of his friends, he was a native of Chilton County and was born on Dec. 15, 1928 to the late Clifton G. “Doc” and Bessie Martin Ellison. Mr. Ellison is also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Kershaw Ellison; a sister, Bertie Ray; and five brothers, Otis, Burnice “Bum”, Arthur “Dee”, Hollis “Hod” (Wilma) and J.C. “Red”, (Jean).

He is survived by a son, John Ellison (Jane) and a daughter, Lynn Ellison, Austin, Tx., as well as several nieces and nephews; a brother in-law, Albert Kershaw (Dot) of Knoxville Tenn.; and two sister in-laws, Grace Golden of Pell City and Joyce Stewart of Panama City, Fla. Mr. Ellison was employed as a butcher at the Food Center in Alabaster as well as grocery stores in Hueytown and Bessemer. He was an Army veteran.

Visitation will be held at Charter Funeral Home, Calera on Tuesday, Nov. 30, from 6-8 p.m. A graveside service in Union Grove Cemetery will be held Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m. Dr. Terry Sutton officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Charter Funeral Home.
