High school basketball roundup: Vincent tops Shelby County

The Vincent High School boys’ basketball team edged Shelby County 71-70 in high school basketball action Dec. 2.

Ben Mckinney hit two free throws with seven seconds remaining to seal the win.

McKinney led Vincent (6-1) with 23 points. McKinney also recorded five steals.

Bruce Hamilton added 18 points, six rebounds and five assists. Keyon Wallace finished with nine points, 13 rebounds and eight assists. Wallace also registered five blocks and seven steals.

Ty Lollar led the Wildcats (2-3) with 24 points.

Tyler Madison added 22 points.

Calera defeats Jemison

The Calera High School boys’ basketball team picked up a 75-58 win over Jemison on Dec. 2.

Deondre Haynes led the Eagles (5-1) with 22 points.

Blayne Sumrall added 21 points.

Thompson defeats Clay-Chalkville

The Thompson High School boys’ basketball team picked up a 65-46 win over Clay-Chalkville on Dec. 2.

Jaylon Jones led the Warriors (6-1) with 17 points.

Demarcus Threatt added 13 points.

Westminster falls to Appalachian

The Westminster School at Oak Mountain boys’ basketball team fell to Appalachian 42-39 in high school basketball action Dec. 2.

Jeffrey Stanford led the Knights (3-4) with 17 points.

Jake Doggett and Richard Robey added seven points each. Doggett grabbed a team-high six rebounds and blocked four shots. Wellford Moore recorded a team-high four steals.

GIRLS

Thompson falls to Clay-Chalkville

The Thompson High School girls’ basketball team fell to Clay-Chalkville 45-42 in high school basketball action Dec. 2.

KaDeisha Stowes led the Warriors (4-4) with 14 points. Stowes also grabbed 15 rebounds.

Kat Cingoranelli added 13 points, six rebounds and three steals.

Shelby County tops Vincent

The Shelby County High School girls’ basketball team defeated Vincent 38-26 on Dec. 2.

Aulicia Nunn led the Wildcats (7-0) with 14 points.

Kiara Cohill led Vincent (1-4) with 21 points.

Chelsea falls to Vestavia Hills

The Chelsea High School girls’ basketball team fell to Vestavia Hills 36-18 on Dec. 2.

Amanda Mock led the Hornets (0-4) with nine points.
