Melvin Hardwick

Alabaster

Melvin Hardwick, of Alabaster, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 5, 2010. He was born in Odenville, on Dec. 6, 1915. He served his country proudly as a Pharmacist Mate 3rd class in the U.S. Navy attached to the 4th Marine Division WWII for the invasions of Saipan and Tinian. He owned and operated OK Rubber Welders in Alabaster until his retirement in 1967. Melvin was a member of Corinthian Lodge #462 of the Free and Accepted Masons of Alabama for 71 years, American Legion Post #138 for 61 years, and Kelly Ingram VFW Post #668.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Lois Catherine Hardwick (retired Post Mistress of Alabaster); daughters Jerrilynne Chambers (Jimmy) of Alabaster, Jeannie Bubbett (Jon) of Helena, and Jane Riley of Mt. Olive; four granddaughters, two grandsons and one great-grandson.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, Dec. 8, beginning at 1-2 p.m. with the service at 2 p.m. all in the Chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
