People should make own decisions

Dear Editor,

I was glad to see Pelham residents recently voice their opposition to a city wide smoking ban.

More and more government attempts to regulate and rule over our individual lives and choices.

Some of the citizens expressed their desire for a smoking ban saying they do not want to risk exposure to an “unsafe environment.”

With that in mind I suppose they will also cease to drive on highways and walk across streets?

What all this boils down to is people these days absolutely refuse to accept responsibility for themselves and their actions.

Grow up and be responsible. If you don’t want to go into a smoking environment then stay home locked inside.

I for one do not support a smoking ban for our city. Let individuals make their own decisions and stay away if they don’t like smoke. I don’t like people who play loud music in cars and wear their pants below their underwear in public. What do I do about it? I don’t frequent places where those things are present. I also don’t like females wearing loud perfume. Can we outlaw that as well?

Simply, grow up and learn to be responsible and don’t rely on government to make all your decisions.
