Shelby County wrestlers drop matches in dual meet

The Shelby County High School wrestling team dropped matches against Benjamin Russell and Leeds in a home dual meet Dec. 7.

The Wildcats fell to Benjamin Russell 61-15. Three Wildcats won their individual matches against Benjamin Russell.

Shelby County 140-pounder Nathan Herrington pinned Michael Wheeless of Benjamin Russell. Jeffrey Hughes of Shelby County earned a 12-9 decision over Deon Maxwell of Benjamin Russell in the 145-pound match.

The Wildcats’ Jacob Oliver won the heavyweight match by forfeit.

Shelby County fell to Leeds 54-27 in the dual meet. Five Shelby County wrestlers won their individual matches.

Herrington won his 140-pound match against Leeds’ Reagan Adair by decision.

Hughes pinned the Green Wave’s Drake Schofield in 145-pound action. Chase Weeks of Shelby County pinned Hunter Tanner of Leeds in the 152-pound match.

The Wildcats’ Stephen Erhart won his 189-pound match by forfeit. Oliver also won the heavyweight match by forfeit.
