Thompson wrestlers defeat Lee at dual meet

The Thompson High School wrestling team picked up a 48-25 win over Robert E. Lee in a match between the two teams Dec. 18 at the Benjamin Russell Duals.

Nine Warriors won their individual matches as Thompson defeated Lee 48-25.

Conner Gilson of Thompson pinned Lee’s Jadarian Gibson in the 103-pound match. Thompson’s Austin Gould picked up a 17-1 technical fall over Aaron Clayton of Lee in the 112-pound match.

Thompson 119-pounder Reed Jacks pinned C.J. Dowdell of Lee. The Warriors’ Cody Albarado pinned Romero Abner of Lee in the 135-pound match.

John Austin (J.A.) Jones of Thompson pinned Earl Jarrett of Lee in the 145-pound match. Nick Hall of Thompson earned a 3-0 decision over Deyonta Smith of Lee in the 152-pound match.

Thompson 160-pounder Josh Gillaspie pinned Heath Filee of Lee. The Warriors’ Jimmy Miller pinned Cory Campbell of Lee in the 215-pound match.

Thompson heavyweight David Capers earned a 14-6 major decision over Lee’s Robert Marshall.

Thompson fell to Tallassee 39-33 at the dual meet. Seven Thompson wrestlers won their individual matches against Tallassee.

The Warriors’ Matthew Gilson earrned a technical fall against Kennon Reese of Tallassee in the 103-pound match. Jacks pinned Tallassee’s Braxton Bryant in the 119-pound match.

Cody Albarado of Thompson pinned Jed Carter of Tallassee in the 135-pound match. Jones pinned Tallassee’s Joel Langley in the 145-pound match.

Hall pinned Shalako Erwood in 152-pound action. Thompson’s Stanton Costes pinned Matthew Segrest in the 171-pound match.

Miller earned a major decision over Lucas Self of Tallassee in the 215-pound match.
