High school basketball roundup: Calera defeats Childersburg in tournament opener

The Calera High School boys’ basketball team defeated Childersburg 108-97 in its opener Dec. 27 in the Champion Sports Medicine Shootout.

Ronnie Clark led the host Eagles (11-3) with 32 points.

Deondre Haynes added 23 points. Blayne Sumrall chipped in 21 points.

Shelby County tops Montevallo in tournament opener

The Shelby County High School boys’ basketball team defeated Montevallo 60-34 in its opener Dec. 27 in the Champion Sports Medicine Shootout.

Ty Lollar led the Wildcats (4-8) with 26 points.

Tyler Madison added 10 points and nine rebounds.

Korey Cunningham led the Bulldogs (2-7) with nine points.

Demetrouse Conwell added seven points.

Pelham pounds Thorsby in tournament

The Pelham High School boys’ basketball team defeated Thorsby 81-23 in its opener Dec. 27 at the Champion Sports Medicine Shootout.

Cameron Slane led the Panthers (4-7) with a career-high 21 points. Slane shot 7-of-9 from the floor, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc.

Alec Rash added 17 points. Jordan Brooks contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds. Graham Reilly finished with four points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Spain Park wins tournament opener

The Spain Park High School boys’ basketball team defeated Central-Tuscaloosa in its Big Orange Classic opener Dec. 27 at Hoover High School.

Rembert Martin and Robby Prater led the Jaguars (10-5) with 14 points each.

Alex Close contributed 12 points. Bryan Stone added 11 points. Mitchell Holt chipped in 10 points.

Spain Park tops Davidson in tournament

The Spain Park High School boys’ basketball team picked up a 62-53 win over Davidson on Dec. 27 in the second round of the Big Orange Classic.

Rembert Martin led the Jaguars (11-5) with 15 points.

Vincent tops Leeds in tournament opener

The Vincent High School boys’ basketball team defeated Leeds 60-32 in its opener Dec. 27 in the Springville Christmas tournament.

Bruce Hamilton and Keyon Wallace led the Yellow Jackets (11-4) with 18 points each.

Hamilton also grabbed 10 rebounds. Wallace finished with six rebounds and four assists.

Anterio Rogers chipped in eight points and four steals.

Coosa Valley falls to Patrician Academy in tournament opener

The Coosa Valley Academy boys’ basketball team fell to Patrician Academy 45-40 in its opener Dec. 27 at the Huntingdon Christmas tournament.

John Bullen led the Rebels with 18 points. Sam Bullard added nine points.

Spain Park wins tournament opener against Hartselle

The Spain Park High School girls’ basketball team defeated Hartselle 58-45 in its opener Dec. 27 at the Decatur Orthopaedic Classic.

Colby Ryan led the Jaguars (11-5) with 20 points. Ryan also grabbed six rebounds.

Kathryn Boswell and Jessica Freeman chipped in 10 points each. Whitney Gulledge added nine points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Coosa Valley defeats Edgewood Academy

The Coosa Valley Academy girls’ basketball team picked up a 48-32 win over Edgewood Academy in its opener Dec. 27 at the Huntingdon Holiday Classic.

Lauren Archer led the Rebels (8-1) with 16 points. Archer also grabbed 13 rebounds.

Kaylan Rich added 14 points and five blocked shots.
