The Calera High School girls’ basketball team fell to Childersburg 71-29 in a consolation game at the Hoops for Hope tournament Dec. 30 at Chelsea High School.

Jennifer Hobby led the Eagles (2-8) with 12 points in the loss.

Jocelyn Davis added nine points. Taylor White chipped in five points.

Briarwood Christian falls in tournament semifinals

The Briarwood Christian School boys’ basketball team fell to Eagles Landing (Ga.) 44-41 in the Oneonta Christmas tournament semifinals Dec. 30.

Jason Laatsch led the Lions (13-4) with 17 points.

Justin Bice added 12 points and eight rebounds.

Chelsea tops Citronelle in overtime in consolation game

The Chelsea High School boys’ basketball team defeated Citronelle 70-67 in overtime in a consolation game Dec. 30 at the Saraland Christmas tournament.

D.D. Washington led the Hornets (9-7) with 24 points.

Jake Ganus added 16 points. D.J. Washington registered 14 points.

Julius McCall was named to the all-tournament team.

Oak Mountain drops semifinal game against Homewood

The Oak Mountain High School boys’ basketball team fell to host Homewood 60-44 in the Metro tournament semifinals Dec. 30.

Colton McGriff led the Eagles (8-6) with 13 points.

Garrett Cosgrove added 12 points.

Thompson falls to Hewitt-Trussville in consolation game

The Thompson High School boys’ basketball team dropped its second game in as many nights following a 59-49 loss to Hewitt-Trussville in a consolation game at the Metro tournament Dec. 30.

Ryan Spence and Jaylon Jones led the Warriors (10-7) with 11 points each.
