Spain Park tops Shelby County in duals

The Spain Park High School wrestling team defeated Shelby County 42-33 in a Jan. 4 match at the Gardendale Duals.

Seven Jaguars earned victories in their individual matches against the Wildcats.

Spain Park 135-pounder Conrad Hathcoat pinned Shelby County’s Jonathan Perrine in 31 seconds. The Jaguars’ Blake Daniel pinned Luke Miller of Shelby County in 2:50 in the 171-pound match.

Mo Mills of Spain Park pinned Stephen Erhart of Shelby County in 1:58 in the 189-pound match. The Jaguars’ Kameron Ricks pinned Shelby County’s Joey Guthrie in 20 seconds in the 215-pound match.

Spain Park heavyweight Emmanuel Cooper pinned Jacob Oliver of Shelby County in 1:25. Jackson Cotney and Andres Galindo of Spain Park each won by forfeit.

Five Shelby County wrestlers picked up individual victories.

Shelby County 152-pounder Chase Weeks pinned Alex Potts of Spain Park in 5:29. Keaton Wood of Shelby County pinned Spain Park’s Dillon Osborne in 1:02 in the 160-pound match.

Avery Manning, Nathan Herrington and Austin Poe of Shelby County each won by forfeit.

Spain Park also picked up a 33-28 win over Erwin in the meet at Gardendale. Six Jaguars recorded individual wins against Erwin.

Daniel earned a 12-6 decision over Chris Averette of Erwin in the 171-pound match. Mills pinned Gardendale’s Rod Hubbard in 1:14 in 189-pound action.

Ricks pinned Samuel Reese of Erwin in 1:12 in the 215-pound match. Cooper pinned Erwin’s Quint Peoples in 3:50 in the heavyweight match.

Galindo and Osborne each won by forfeit.

The Jaguars fell to host Gardendale 43-28 in the meet. Five Spain Park wrestlers picked up individual victories against the Rockets.

Osborne pinned Kaleb Fletcher of Gardendale in 3:34 in the 160-pound match. Mills earned a pin in 45 seconds against William Pearson of Gardendale in the 189-pound match.

Ricks picked up an 18-7 major decision over Gardendale’s Matt Robles in the 215-pound match. Cooper pinned Daniel Adkins of Gardendale in one minute in the heavyweight match.

Galindo won his match by forfeit.

Shelby County fell to host Gardendale 51-15 in the meet. Three Wildcats earned individual victories against Gardendale.

Wood pinned Fletcher in the 160-pound match. Erhart earned a decision over Pearson in the 189-pound match. Oliver pinned Adkins in the heavyweight match.
