High school basketball roundup: Shelby County edges Vincent in overtime

The Shelby County High School boys’ basketball team edged Vincent 64-62 in overtime in high school basketball action Jan. 6.

Ty Lollar hit a one-handed runner in the lane with one second left in overtime to lift the Wildcats to victory.

Lollar led the Wildcats (6-8) with 26 points.

Tyler Madison added 15 points. Andrew Miller chipped in 13 points.

Bruce Hamilton led the Yellow Jackets (13-6) with 28 points. Hamilton also grabbed 11 rebounds.

Anterio Rogers and Keyon Wallace chipped in 12 points each. Wallace registered a team-high 16 rebounds and seven blocked shots.

Thompson tops McAdory

The Thompson High School boys’ basketball team defeated McAdory 53-46 on Jan. 6.

Demarcus Threatt led the Warriors (12-8) with 25 points.

Ryan Coleman dished out seven assists. Caleb Johnson finished with five rebounds.

Westminster defeats Shades Mountain Christian

The Westminster School at Oak Mountain boys’ basketball team defeated Shades Mountain Christian 44-32 on Jan. 6.

Adam Gurley led the Knights (8-8) with a game-high 16 points.

Jeffrey Stanford added 14 points. Michael Stanford chipped in eight points in the victory.

Kingwood Christian edges Flint Hill Christian

The Kingwood Christian School boys’ basketball team edged Flint Hill Christian 37-36 on Jan. 6.

Madison Webb made two free throws with 11 seconds remaining to life the Lions to the victory. Webb led Kingwood (10-7) with 12 points.

Daniel Fillingim added nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

GIRLS

Shelby County defeats Vincent

The Shelby County High School girls’ basketball team continued its hot streak in its first game of the new year as the Wildcats defeated Vincent 48-25 in high school basketball action Jan. 6.

Aulicia Nunn led Shelby County (12-2) with 17 points.

Alysia Perkins added 14 points.

Brooklyn Jones led Vincent (6-10) with 10 points.

Oak Mountain tops Jackson-Olin

The Oak Mountain High School girls’ basketball team defeated Jackson-Olin 31-26 on Jan. 6.

Mackenzie Garmany led the Eagles with nine points.

M.K. Shealy added seven points.

Thompson defeats McAdory

The Thompson High School girls’ basketball team defeated McAdory 59-36 on Jan. 6.

KaDeisha Stowes led the Warriors (8-7) with 18 points.

Sophie Cingoranelli added 14 points.

Kingwood Christian downs Flint Hill

The Kingwood Christian School girls’ basketball team defeated Flint Hill Christian 57-34 on Jan. 6.

Casey Whitmer led the Lions (5-11) with 21 points. Whitmer also grabbed 25 rebounds and blocked five shots.

Whitney Gillespie added 19 points and seven steals. Blair Holsombeck chipped in 14 points.
