Oak Mountain wrestlers defeat Spain Park


The Oak Mountain High School wrestling team defeated Spain Park 43-16 in a dual meet Jan. 13.

Eight Eagles won their individual matches against Spain Park.

John David (J.D.) Peden of Oak Mountain pinned Jackson Cotney of Spain Park in 43 seconds in the 103-pound match. The Eagles’ Jacob Parker earned a 9-0 major decision over Spain Park’s Connor Whatley in the 130-pound match.

Angus McBee of Oak Mountain pinned Brandon Stanley of Spain Park in 4:40 in the 140-pound match. Oak Mountain 152-pounder Vincent Kimbrough pinned the Jaguars’ Dillon Osborne in 20 seconds.

The Eagles’ Jeff Back pinned Spain Park’s Alex Potts in 1:31 in 160-pound action. Conrad McBee of Oak Mountain earned an 11-5 decision over Blake Daniel of Spain Park in the 171-pound match.

Justin Woodall of Oak Mountain pinned Spain Park’s Mo Mills in 1:55 in the 189-pound match. Oak Mountain 145-pounder Sam Jasinski won his match by forfeit.

Four Spain Park wrestlers won their individual matches against the Eagles.

The Jaguars’ Tommy Bostany earned a 7-1 decision over Jared Godfrey of Oak Mountain in the 125-pound match. Conrad Hathcoat of Spain Park pinned Oak Mountain’s Matthew Wills in 1:48 in the 135-pound match.

Kameron Ricks of Spain Park earned a 10-5 decision over Lloyd Time of Oak Mountain in the 215-pound match. Spain Park heavyweight Emmanuel Cooper earned an 11-3 major decision over Chris Richmond of Oak Mountain.
