Willie Francis “W.F.” Horton of Jemison passed away Jan. 16, 2011. He was born Feb. 22, 1913 in Marvel, where he lived for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Horton of 77 years; son, Leo K. Horton (Christine) of Jemison; sister, Yvonne Parsons of Fairfield; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Naval Medical Corp. during World War II. He was a coalmine foreman, a steel worker and an engraver at Dewberry Engraving. He loved fishing and hunting on the Cahaba River. and he was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan. Most importantly, he was a loving and caring family man.

In lieu of flowers. the family suggests a donation be made to Living River, a Presbytery retreat on the Cahaba River. 3603 Lorna Ridge Dr; Birmingham, AL 35216.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at Rockco Funeral Home Montevallo. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. in the chapel, and the memorial service will be at 10 a.m.  Burial will follow at Macedonia Church, Pea Ridge. Grand-nephews will service as pallbearers with Rev. Wendy Wolford conducting the services. Rockco Funeral Home Montevallo directing.
