Vincent defeats Fultondale in area contest

The Vincent High School boys’ basketball team defeated Fultondale 75-35 in a Class 2A, Area 10 contest Jan. 20.

A 24-1 run by Vincent (17-6 overall, 5-1 in Class 2A, Area 10) in the third quarter broke the game open.

Senior Ben McKinney led the charge with a double-double with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds.

Tyler Williams added 16 points, four steals, three rebounds and two assists. Dontravious Moon chipped in 14 points, five steals and three assists.

Austin Davis contributed 10 points and two assists. Anterio Rogers controlled the game and finished with eight assists and five steals.

Vincent made 10 3-pointers in the contest. Davis hit 3-of-3 attempts from long distance, Williams was 4-of-6 and Moon was 3-of-5 outside the arc. Freshmen Michael Gilham and Jay Hamilton played in their first varsity game against Fultondale.

GIRLS

The Vincent High School girls’ basketball team defeated Fultondale 44-38 in a Class 2A, Area 10 contest Jan. 20.

Kiara Cohill led the Yellow Jackets (8-14 overall, 5-1 in Class 2A, Area 10) with 22 points. Cohill also recorded six steals and three blocked shots.

Brooklyn Jones added 16 points, three steals and one blocked shots.
