Chelsea wrestlers drop match with Minor in Homewood Duals

The Chelsea High School wrestling team dropped a match Jan. 21 with Minor 66-18 at the Homewood Duals.

Three Chelsea wrestlers won their individual matches by forfeit.

Zachary Hensley of Chelsea won his 112-pound match by forfeit. Corey Moore won his 145-pound match by forfeit.

Zakary Van Der Geest won his 152-pound match by forfeit.

Chelsea fell to Calera 41-36 in a match at the Homewood Duals. Six Hornets won their individual matches against Calera.

Michael Walker of Chelsea pinned Calera’s Brian McDonald in 1:27 in the 103-pound match. Chandler Wood of Chelsea earned a pin in 4:45 against Austin Dowdy of Calera in the 125-pound match.

Damian Tinney of Chelsea pinned Cody Thomaston of Calera in 2:20 in the 160-pound match. Hensley, Moore and Shane Paramore won each of their matches by forfeit.

The Hornets also fell to Tuscaloosa County 78-6 at the Homewood Duals.

Chelsea heavyweight David Downard was the only wrestler to record a victory in the match, as he pinned Trance Burns of Tuscaloosa County in the final individual match.

Chelsea dropped its match against host Homewood at the Duals.

Van Der Geest recorded the lone individual victory for the Hornets as he pinned Warren Cook of Homewood in 2:26 in the 152-pound match.

Chelsea fell to Spain Park 70-12 in the Homewood Duals. Two Hornets won their individual matches against the Jaguars.

Walker pinned Jackson Cotney of Spain Park in 27 seconds in the 103-pound match. Hensley won the 112-pound match by forfeit.
