Shelby County edges Briarwood Christian in area victory

The Shelby County High School boys’ basketball team edged Briarwood Christian School 62-59 in a Class 5A, Area 7 contest Jan. 21.

Ty Lollar led the Wildcats (9-11 overall, 3-4 in Class 5A, Area 7) with a game-high 25 points.

Andrew Miller contributed 10 points in the victory.

James Palmer led Briarwood Christian (19-7 overall, 3-3 in Class 5A, Area 7) with 21 points.

Jason Laatsch contributed 16 points.

GIRLS

The Shelby County High School girls’ basketball team defeated Briarwood Christian School 63-51 in a Class 5A, Area 7 contest Jan. 21.

The Wildcats’ victory snapped the Lions’ 21-game area winning streak over the past three seasons.

Alysia Perkins led Shelby County (14-5 overall, 3-4 in Class 5A, Area 7) with a game-high 19 points.

Aulicia Nunn added 18 points. Alexis Lewis chipped in 14 points in the victory.

Cara Medders led the Lions (20-4 overall, 5-1 in Class 5A, Area 7) with 13 points.

Anna Handlin added 11 points.
