The Spain Park High School boys’ basketball team defeated Vestavia Hills 55-53 in overtime in a Class 6A, Area 12 contest Jan. 21.

Steven Lawson led the Jaguars (18-7 overall, 4-1 in Class 6A, Area 12) with a game-high 23 points.

Robby Prater, who hit the game-winning basket as time expired, added 14 points in the victory.

GIRLS

The Spain Park High School girls’ basketball team let a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter slip away in a 54-52 loss to Vestavia Hills in a Class 6A, Area 12 contest Jan. 21.

Jessica Freeman led the Jaguars (14-12 overall, 2-3 in Class 6A, Area 12) with 14 points.

Ashley Gaston and Whitney Gulledge added eight points each in the loss.
