Spain Park wrestlers top Montgomery Catholic in Homewood Duals

The Spain Park High School wrestling team defeated Montgomery Catholic 48-36 in a Jan. 21 match at the Homewood Duals.

Spain Park won all three pool matches and finished as champions of the Red Pool at the Homewood Duals.

Eight Jaguars won their individual matches against Montgomery Catholic.

Conrad Hatchcoat of Spain Park pinned Justin Cotter of Montgomery Catholic in the 135-pound match. The Jaguars’ Blake Daniel pinned Alex Castanza of Montgomery Catholic in the 160-pound match.

Spain Park’s Alec Hudson pinned Montgomery Catholic’s Ethan Watkins in the 171-pound match. Mo Mills of Spain Park pinned David Norris of Montgomery Catholic in the 189-pound match.

Four Spain Park wrestlers won their matches by forfeit.

Andres Galindo of Spain Park won his 119-pound match by forfeit. Tommy Bostany of Spain Park won his 125-pound match by forfeit.

The Jaguars’ Connor Whatley won his 130-pound match by forfeit. Kameron Ricks of Spain Park won his 215-pound match by forfeit.

Spain Park also defeated Calera 60-12 at the Homewood Duals. Ten Jaguars won their individual matches against Calera.

Bostany pinned Jarrett Seiger of Calera in 2:26 in the 119-pound match. Galindo pinned Austin Dowdy of Calera in 3:14 in the 125-pound match.

Whatley pinned Keenan Agee of Calera in 50 seconds in the 130-pound match. Hathcoat pinned Calera’s Jake Thomas in 1:14 in the 135-pound match.

Brandon Stanley pinned Shawn O’Neill of Calera in 3:13 in the 140-pound match. Daniel pinned Calera’s Cody Thomaston in 30 seconds in the 160-pound match.

Ricks pinned Kevin Murry of Calera in 1:55 in the 215-pound match. Marcus Jackson, Hudson and Mills each won their matches by forfeit.

Spain Park defeated Chelsea 70-12 in the Homewood Duals. Twelve Jaguars won their individual matches against Chelsea.

Galindo pinned Blake Travelstead of Chelsea in 1:38 in the 119-pound match. Bostany pinned Chelsea’s Chandler Wood in 1:53 in the 125-pound match.

Stanley pinned Michael Early of Chelsea in 48 seconds in the 140-pound match. Jackson pinned Chelsea’s Corey Moore in 1:40 in the 145-pound match.

Dillon Osborne of Spain Park pinned Zakary Van Der Geest of Chelsea in 53 seconds in the 152-pound match. Conner Tinney of Spain Park pinned Damien Tinney of Chelsea in 1:47 in the 160-pound match.

Daniel earned a 14-2 major decision over Chelsea’s Shane Paramore in the 171-pound match. Spain Park’s Martin Canales pinned David Downard of Chelsea in 57 seconds in the heavyweight match.

Whatley, Hathcoat, Mills and Ricks each won their matches by forfeit.

Spain Park defeated Vestavia Hills 48-33 in the Homewood Duals. Eight Jaguars won their individual matches against Vestavia Hills.

Bostany pinned Michael Parker of Vestavia Hills in 20 seconds in the 119-pound match. Hathcoat pinned Ben Collins of Vestavia Hills in 16 seconds in the 135-pound match.

Jackson pinned Raymond Newton of Vestavia Hills in 5:33 in the 145-pound match. Daniel pinned Tim Taylor of Vestavia Hills in 3:44 in the 160-pound match.

Mills pinned Kyle Meding of Vestavia Hills in 26 seconds in the 189-pound match. Ricks pinned Vestavia Hills’ Jahaad Jackson in 1:01 in the 215-pound match.

Galindo and Tinney each won their matches by forfeit.

Spain Park fell to Mountain Brook 42-34 in the Homewood Duals. Six Jaguars won their individual matches against Mountain Brook.

Galindo pinned Will Jackson of Mountain Brook in 2:50 in the 119-pound match. Daniel pinned Jake Perry of Mountain Brook in 2:20 in the 160-pound match.

Mills pinned Mountain Brook’s Patrick Hubbard in 5:02 in the 189-pound match. Ricks earned a 22-10 major decision over Nick Thompson of Mountain Brook in the 215-pound match.

Canales pinned Henry Real of Mountain Brook in 45 seconds in the heavyweight match. Jackson Cotney won his match by forfeit.

The Jaguars also fell to Fort Payne 60-21 in the Homewood Duals. Four Spain Park wrestlers won their individual matches against Fort Payne.

Bostany pinned Gerson Sac of Fort Payne in 4:12 in the 119-pound match. Hathcoat pinned Fort Payne’s Hunter Harrison in 1:25 in the 135-pound match.

Mills earned a 5-4 decision over Wes Sartein of Fort Payne in the 189-pound match. Ricks pinned Jared McWilliams of Fort Payne in 2:37 in the 215-pound match.
