Evangel Christian defeats rival Hope Christian

The Evangel Christian School girls’ basketball team remained undefeated following a 65-31 win over rival Hope Christian School in an Alabama Christian Sports Conference contest Jan. 21.

Rainey Ketcham led the Lightning (13-0 overall, 10-0 in Alabama Christian Sports Conference) with a game-high 17 points. Ketcham also finished with eight steals.

Katherine Stockman added 16 points and eight steals. Abby Letson contributed 15 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Leigh Wilson-Legg led Hope Christian (9-6 overall, 3-4 in Alabama Christian Sports Conference) with eight points.

BOYS

The Evangel Christian School boys’ basketball team defeated rival Hope Christian School 59-49 in an Alabama Christian Sports Conference contest Jan. 21.

DaJon Townson led the Lightning (12-1 overall, 11-1 in Alabama Christian Sports Conference) with 19 points.

Mark Underwood added 13 points in the victory.

Seth Burnham led the Eagles (9-8 overall, 4-7 in Alabama Christian Sports Conference) with 22 points. Burnham also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

Terrance Moore added 11 points and seven rebounds. Pete Thomason finished with seven points. Blake Thomas contributed four points. Caleb Douglas finished with three points.

Thomason and Douglas grabbed six rebounds each.
