The Kingwood Christian School girls’ basketball team defeated Bessemer Academy 40-18 in its final AISA Class 3A, Region 2 — Area 1 contest Jan. 25.

Madelyn Pearce led the Lions (9-13 overall, 2-2 in AISA Class 3A, Region 2 — Area 1) with 14 points.

Whitney Gillespie added 11 points in the victory.

BOYS

The Kingwood Christian School boys’ basketball team fell to Bessemer Academy 55-45 in its final AISA Class 3A, Region 2 — Area 1 contest Jan. 25.

Daniel Fillingim led the Lions (13-12 overall, 0-4 in AISA Class 3A, Region 2 — Area 1) with 28 points.

Fillingim also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds to finish with a double-double.
